Android latest update Pi has bring new update for Galaxy devices at granular level with Do not disturb feature. With previous Android operating systems you can enable Do not disturb mode but it could only mute alarms, calls, messages and other audio notifications. But there was no option to mute media volume. Samsung fixed this feature hole with Android Pie and One UI. Now you have option to selectively disable media, alarms and touch sounds. This means, there won’t be any sounds unless you turn off do not disturb mode.
In fact, the latest version of Android completely mutes all media sounds and does not allow you manually increase or decrease media volume. So once do not disturb media is enabled, you would have to turn it off to hear sound back in videos and other media with audio on the device. It’s an obvious option that was missed somehow. It ensure your phone doesn’t accidentally make a sound while you are browsing through Instagram or Facebook.
You can even further customized Do not disturb mode. To customize, you can open the settings app. Go into the notification section, then tap the Do not disturb option (Yes, Do not disturb is no longer located in the sounds and vibration menu). In the Do not disturb menu, go into the Allow exceptions section to find toggles for alarms, media and touch sounds in addition to the usual settings that let you choose if you want to hear calls, message notifications etc. or not.
