Samsung Electronics is working on its second generation Galaxy fold smartphone. The device will have an 8-inch display and the S-Pen. This is strange because its first version of the foldable smartphone didn’t work out as expected. We may see it in the future, but so far, there is no news of Galaxy fold. Even the pre-order has been canceled without any further notice or details. The second generation device will use the same technology as its predecessor and will have an 8-inch display. There will be an S-Pen too. According to the South Korean tech news outlet, Samsung has already forwarded its interest to its S Pen manufacturing partners to create components for an S-Pen that could fit inside the Galaxy Fold.
It is reported that Samsung will start to work on this foldable device until August this year. The report also suggests that Samsung is working to launch this device by the end of this year or at the beginning of next year. The original Galaxy Fold had a 7.3-inch display and there wasn’t s-pen. The galaxy fold was due in April this year but has been delayed indefinitely due to its malfunction folding display.
Samsung at the time posted a statement explaining why the Galaxy Fold’s launch was postponed [emphasis added]. Initial findings from the inspection of reported issues on the display showed that they could be associated with an impact on the top and bottom exposed areas of the hinge. There was also an instance where substances found inside the device affected the display performance. We will take measures to strengthen the display protection. We will also enhance the guidance on care and use of the display including the protective layer so that our customers get the most out of their Galaxy Fold. Samsung is also reportedly unveiling its new Galaxy Note 10 on August 7.
