Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra – A phone with 108MP camera that can’t focus

The first thought that comes to your mind after hearing the price of Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra is if the phone justifies the price? The Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra will be available in March starting at $1,399. Samsung aimed to manufacture a statement phone to beat the iPhone and Android competition and the specs seem quite impressive, at least on the paper.

The phone has an impressive design, the screen, the battery, 5G support, the speed, and more but the key selling point of the camera is an all-new 108MP camera with 100MP zoom that lets you see everything in a scene that a naked eye can’t see. The phone has a 6.9-inch display, it’s taller and thicker than the iPhone Pro Max. It is a well-made phone with curved glass on the front and back sides. The device has a much higher refresh rate up to 120Hz that makes everything on the screen look so smooth and pleasant but a high refresh rate means poor battery life. There is one more thing that could affect the battery and it’s the processing chip – Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

Now, to talk about the camera. The device comes with four lenses including a 108-megapixel sensor. But before its launch, the company seems to struggle with a few issues with the camera. The reviewers at PCMag discovered that the camera cannot focus and produce blurry images. Samsung said, “The Galaxy S20 features a groundbreaking, advanced camera system,” a Samsung spokesperson said to Business Insider. “We are constantly working to optimize performance to deliver the best experience for consumers. As part of this ongoing effort, we are working on a future update to improve the camera experience.”

So far, we don’t have any updates on the solution for the camera focus issue. It seems that Samsung is trying to solve the hardware problem with a software update. But now the question is that will it be able to convince users to spend such a huge amount of money for a phone that doesn’t have a perfect camera. We have to wait and see what future holds for Galaxy S20 ultra.
