Samsung Galaxy A51 will likely to have a macro lens

There have been some rumors about Samsung’s next smartphone from the budget category. The phone comes with a quad-camera system at the rear side and would be the first smartphone with so many cameras in the category. Last year, Samsung launched Galaxy A9 with four camera lens but the setup isn’t similar to the Galaxy A51. According to the technology blog sammobile, the fourth camera sensor on the Galaxy A51 will be a macro lens. It lets you take a picture of the subject closer than the usual camera lens.

The macro lens has a much shorter minimum focus length that allows you get closer to the subject without losing focus, making these perfect for taking pictures of objects you need great detail, for example, you can take pictures of insects, flowers, cat eyes, etc. However, this also requires you to get closer to the subject because of the short focal length, something that’s not required with telephoto lenses. Samsung has been using the telephoto lens as the fourth lens but choosing a macro lens this time. This will also help to lower the price as a macro lens are cheaper than the telephoto lenses, which is no doubt why Samsung has chosen to equip the Galaxy A51.

The other three cameras on the Galaxy A51 are comprised of 48MP primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP depth-sensing camera. The 12MP ultra-wide camera is an upgrade from the 8MP and 5MP ultra-wide cameras seen on the existing smartphone in the mid-range category, and it should be a great improvement for the pictures that needs an ultra-wide coverage. For the front camera, the Galaxy A51 will be using a 32MP camera located in a punch hole in the center of the display.
