Samsung Galaxy Watch is one of the must-have gadgets for any tech enthusiast. It has a beautiful design, a user-friendly bezel that rotates, and an impressive long-lasting battery life for the kind of functionality it offers. The company launched the 4G variant of the Galaxy Watch in India this year, even though the rest of the world has already got their hands on it along with the non-LTE model back in 2018. One of the reasons, Samsung had to delay the launch was the unavailability of e-SIM throughout India. Now, the watch is available in India, should you buy it?
The Galaxy watch 4G variant comes in 2 sizes: 42mm and 46mm with black, rose gold, and silver colors to choose from. You can navigate through the menus via the rotating bezel. The 1.3-inch AMOLED display is kind of lower than the bezel and has Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ to help prevent scratches. There are two buttons on the right side of the device, both of which have a textured pattern making these easy to distinguish. The upper button is the back button, while the other button is the home button. To make calls on the watch, you can use a microphone below the home button. The speaker is on the left side of the watch.
The heart-rate sensor is placed at the bottom. The watch has a wireless charging and the wireless charger in the box is the same as used with the Galaxy Watch. The Galaxy Watch is IP68 rated and has water-resistance up to 5ATM. The watch uses Samsung’s Exynos 9110 SoC, a dual-core processor. The Galaxy watch has 1.5GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage to save music and apps. The Galaxy Watch 4G runs Samsung’s Wearable OS which is based on Tizen. It can be paired with Android as well as iOS devices. In terms of app support, we found it to be limited compared to Google’s Wear OS and Apple’s WatchOS. Samsung has tried to reduce reliance on third-party apps by offering lots of features right out of the box. In terms of connectivity, the watch has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G LTE. It also has an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, heart rate sensor, and ambient light sensor.
