According to a few leaked images of a supposed-to-be a new Galaxy A series phone, Samsung is working on another mid-range smartphone with a fairly heavy bezel but no hole for front-camera as usually Samsung has for its devices. That allows users to have an uninterrupted full edge-to-edge display with the front-face camera seemingly using the pop-up mechanism whenever you want to take a selfie or use it for video call.
Using the pop-up camera for the front camera isn’t anything new, but recently lots of smartphones seem to have moved away from this technology due to its mechanical aspect that isn’t as reliable and long-duration as built-in cameras are. Although, pop-up cameras offer the ability for the users to experience the full-display. Whatever motivation Samsung finds, it seems to work for it and this seems to be the first smartphone by the company in 2020.
As per the leaks, this would be a mid-range smartphone, but rather a mid-range Galaxy A series phone. Other than the relatively large bottom bezel, the device also incorporates a rear fingerprint scanner, rather than one embedded in the display, the display is also flat. The leaked images were posted by Pictou in collaboration with OnLeaks also suggest the phone will come with a triple-lens camera on the rear side. Earlier Samsung introduced Galaxy A80 with a rotating camera last year and now it is ready to join the pop-up selfie camera trend. The name of the device hasn’t revealed yet. Based on the renders the new Galaxy device quite similar to Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.
The rear side gets a typical triple-camera setup that’s aligned vertically and there’s also a fingerprint sensor on the rear side. There is no info on the hardware specs just yet but it is said to come with a 6.5” screen and there is also an IR blaster at the top of the display along with a USB-C port at the bottom. This could be a new device in Samsung’s Galaxy A or Galaxy M lineup and it isn’t clear if it would come to the Indian market any sooner.
