The first images of the vertically folding Galaxy Z flip clamshell phones were leaked earlier this month. We knew that it will support the 5G network. Now, we have more leaks and a video to set rumors about the new phone that leaves almost nothing to imagine. The leaks suggest that the phone might be ready for the launch by Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event on August 5. The design of the phone looks pretty similar to the folding phone but has more speed and 5G network capability.
Based on the Evan Blass video, it looks almost identical to its predecessor – the original LTE version that went on sale on February 14th. The only difference in appearance is the new mystic bronze color. According to the XDA-developer, the phone will be slightly taller and thicker and will be powered by more powerful Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 plus chip. According to Weinbach, the device is going to have the same battery as the original phone which may concern some users as it wasn’t enough for the older version and now it has a more powerful processor and might need more battery life.
Chinese telecommunications certification center TENAA previously corroborated that the phone would likely have the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip, and the Wireless Power Consortium also listed a “Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G” as a phone that would support wireless charging, so it sounds like that’s probably the name and your wireless chargers will keep working. Although, 5G network capability is the latest trend and makes your phone download faster and respond quicker – depending on where you are located and what type of 5G you are using there might not be any need for paying extra for this feature alone.
